Fri, 12 Mar 2010

Update
ESPN.com reports the Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with unrestricted free-agent TE Benjamin Watson (Patriots) on a three-year deal worth $12 million. The contract includes $6.35 million in guaranteed money.

Tomlinson close to signing

Thu, 11 Mar 2010

Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, LaDainian Tomlinson met with Minnesota Vikings officials last night for dinner and will visit more with the Vikings today. However, if he does leave Minnesota without a contract, Tomlinson will meet with the New York Jets on Friday. Yet, Tomlinson is enjoying his visit with the Vikings and told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he could 'possibly' sign with Vikings on Thursday. He said he has "heard what I like to hear" and that one of his agents made the trip with him.

Fantasy Impact: Tomlinson has a strong chance of signing with the Vikings, as he wants to win a championship, and is willing to accept a backup role to Adrian Peterson. Tomlinson wouldn't have the fantasy value that he has had before if he is turned into a backup in Minnesota, but if he signs with the Jets and can hold a starting role, he would be a solid number two or three running back.

Derrick Mason returning

Thu, 11 Mar 2010

Update
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Baltimore Ravens WR Derrick Mason has been re-signed to a two-year, $8 million deal that includes $3.5 million in the first year. Mason briefly retired before the 2009-10 season, and hinted after the season that he might retire but has decided to come back to play for two more years. "This is outstanding, just great news for the Ravens. Our coaches are happy. Derrick's teammates are happy and you know Joe [Flacco] is smiling," said head coach John Harbaugh.

Fantasy Impact: Mason is one of the most reliable WR's in the league as he had 73 receptions last year for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns. Mason is a good low-end number two WR option or high-end number three. His re-signing will cut a little bit into Ravens WR Anquan Boldin and WR Donte Stallworth's productivity and fantasy value, but this makes QB Joe Flacco look that much better.

Fantasy Impact
"Man it don't take that damn long to sign on the dotted line, lets go!!! You can be Batman, I will be Robin, lets go!!" Ochocinco commented. If this signing happens and the 2 receivers can get along they could become one of the most notorious and dangerous WR duos in recent history.

T. Jones Signs with Kansas City

Wed, 10 Mar 2010

Update
NFL.com reports that former New York Jets Running Back Thomas Jones has signed a 2 year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Official terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jones will provide a veteran boost to KC's third year stand out RB Jamaal Charles, almost certainly boosting the Kansas City run game into a formidable force.

Browns Drop QB Anderson

Wed, 10 Mar 2010

Update
NFL.com reports that The Cleveland Browns have dropped one time pro bowl QB Derek Anderson on Tuesday, the day after the team acquired QB Seneca Wallace from Seattle.

Fantasy Impact: Anderson has had an extremely up and down career while in Cleveland, leading them to a 10-6 record while going to the pro bowl a few years back, and since, exchanging starting position with QB Brady Quinn often due to poor performance.

Thomas Jones signs with the Chiefs

Tue, 09 Mar 2010

Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, RB Thomas Jones has just signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones' deal is worth $3 million this year, $2 million in 2011, and $500,000 in incentives. Jones spent last year with the New York Jets

Fantasy Impact: Thomas Jones found a place where he should be the starter. Jones should split carries with Jamal Charles, but Jones has been use to splitting carries for the past several years. Last year in 331 carries, Jones had 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns. This is a great move by the Chiefs getting a good, yet old, running back for a low-risk, high-reward deal. Jones should be a good low-end #2 running back, yet high-end #3 in fantasy for next season.

Derek Anderson cut by Browns

Tue, 09 Mar 2010

Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns have cut QB Derek Anderson before he was due a $2 million bonus on March 19. The move comes one day after the Browns traded for Seneca Wallace and serves as no surprise. Last season Anderson threw three touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 182 passing attempts.

Fantasy Impact: Anderson will find another team after the NFL draft if not sooner. Anderson should become his new team's backup quarterback and won't serve much fantasy value until his team is known.

Seneca Wallace traded to Cleveland

Tue, 09 Mar 2010

Update
According to thebiglead.com, the Seattle Seahawks traded QB Seneca Wallace to the Cleveland Browns for an undisclosed late round draft pick in 2011.

Fantasy Impact
The Cleveland Browns are expected to cut QB Derek Anderson later in the month, which makes sense to trade for Wallace, especially when GM Mike Holmgren has ties to Seattle. The Seahawks trading Wallace opens up space for them to go after a quarterback in the draft, the leader is Jimmy Clausen with the number six pick in the first round.

Vikings interested in Tomlinson

Tue, 09 Mar 2010

Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, free agent RB LaDainian Tomlinson is talking with the Minnesota Vikings, and other teams that aren't known, but no deals are imminent. Tomlinson was recently released by the San Diego Chargers earlier this off-season.

Fantasy Impact
I can't see the Vikings picking up Tomlinson after not spending money to re-sign RB Chester Taylor. Tomlinson would be a great duo with Adrian Peterson, but I think Tomlinson is looking for more of a starting role, and more money, both which he could find in other places compared to Minnesota.

Tue, 09 Mar 2010

Update
Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the combination of the St. Louis Rams signing DL Fred Robbins as well as a veteran quarterback in QB A.J. Feeley seems to indicate the team is leaning toward selecting a quarterback over a defensive tackle with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Fantasy Impact: Fred Robbins is an extremely talented force on the defensive end, so it certainly seems the Rams will have the opportunity to draft the top QB prospect.

Update

Mon, 08 Mar 2010

Osgood to Jacksonville

Mon, 08 Mar 2010

Update
ESPN reports that the Jaguars have signed WR Kassim Osgood to a 3 year contract. The other terms of the deal are not known.

Fantasy Impact: This could surprisingly have fantasy implications, as Osgood has said previously that he wanted to go somewhere that would let him play more wide receiver and be a bigger part of an offense. The Jaguars have little talent beyond Mike Sims-Walker at WR and Osgood could have value this year.

Kerry Rhodes Going to the Desert

Mon, 08 Mar 2010

Update
ESPN reports that the Arizona Cardinals have acquired S Kerry Rhodes from the Jets for a fourth round pick next year and a seventh round pick in 2011.

Browns Pick up Pashos

Mon, 08 Mar 2010

Update
Aaron Wilson, of The National Football Post, reports the Cleveland Browns have reached a three-year, $10.3 million deal with free-agent OL Tony Pashos (49ers).

Fantasy Impacted: It had been previously rumored that Pashos would resign with the 49ers, however negotiations didn't work out resulting in his eventual signing with the Browns.

Mon, 08 Mar 2010

Update
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports free-agent DT Tank Johnson (Bengals) said he hopes to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he plans to visit with other teams in the next week.

Fantasy Impact: Johnson is a very talented DT whose struggles in the NFL have mostly stemmed from problems with the law.
