Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, RB Thomas Jones has just signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones' deal is worth $3 million this year, $2 million in 2011, and $500,000 in incentives. Jones spent last year with the New York Jets
Fantasy Impact: Thomas Jones found a place where he should be the starter. Jones should split carries with Jamal Charles, but Jones has been use to splitting carries for the past several years. Last year in 331 carries, Jones had 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns. This is a great move by the Chiefs getting a good, yet old, running back for a low-risk, high-reward deal. Jones should be a good low-end #2 running back, yet high-end #3 in fantasy for next season.
Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns have cut QB Derek Anderson before he was due a $2 million bonus on March 19. The move comes one day after the Browns traded for Seneca Wallace and serves as no surprise. Last season Anderson threw three touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 182 passing attempts.
Fantasy Impact: Anderson will find another team after the NFL draft if not sooner. Anderson should become his new team's backup quarterback and won't serve much fantasy value until his team is known.
Update
According to thebiglead.com, the Seattle Seahawks traded QB Seneca Wallace to the Cleveland Browns for an undisclosed late round draft pick in 2011.
Fantasy Impact
The Cleveland Browns are expected to cut QB Derek Anderson later in the month, which makes sense to trade for Wallace, especially when GM Mike Holmgren has ties to Seattle. The Seahawks trading Wallace opens up space for them to go after a quarterback in the draft, the leader is Jimmy Clausen with the number six pick in the first round.
Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, free agent RB LaDainian Tomlinson is talking with the Minnesota Vikings, and other teams that aren't known, but no deals are imminent. Tomlinson was recently released by the San Diego Chargers earlier this off-season.
Fantasy Impact
I can't see the Vikings picking up Tomlinson after not spending money to re-sign RB Chester Taylor. Tomlinson would be a great duo with Adrian Peterson, but I think Tomlinson is looking for more of a starting role, and more money, both which he could find in other places compared to Minnesota.
Update
John Clayton, of ESPN, reports the Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed unrestricted free-agent FT Tank Johnson to a four-year deal, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson had hoped to return to The Bengals and is likely quite satisfied with a 4 year deal. The 6"3, 300 pound 28 year old is looking to have his best season yet.
Update
Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the combination of the St. Louis Rams signing DL Fred Robbins as well as a veteran quarterback in QB A.J. Feeley seems to indicate the team is leaning toward selecting a quarterback over a defensive tackle with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Fantasy Impact: Fred Robbins is an extremely talented force on the defensive end, so it certainly seems the Rams will have the opportunity to draft the top QB prospect.
Update
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the Seattle Seahawks have traded QB/WR Seneca Wallace to the Cleveland Browns. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: With the move to Cleveland, Wallace is reunited with his former Seahawks Coach Mike Holmgren, now the Browns President.
Update
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the New England Patriots have reached an agreement in principle to re-sign CB Leigh Bodden. Terms of the deal are not yet available.
Fantasy Impact
Bodden had visited with The Houston Texans a few times and it was rumored he may be heading to the desert to play, but in the end he will be returning to The Patriots to play.
Update
Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed unrestricted free-agent WR Antwaan Randle El (Redskins) to a three-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: Randle El was dropped earlier by Washington after struggling through a few seasons with the team, he received a lot of interest from multiple clubs but has decided to return to the team that drafted him and where he won a Superbowl.
Update
ESPN reports that the Texans have resigned WR Kevin Walter Monday. Terms are not currently known.
Fantasy Impact: Walter was pretty disappointing this year in fantasy, but a bounce back is possible. Expect him to go much later in drafts, though.
Update
ESPN reports that the Jaguars have signed WR Kassim Osgood to a 3 year contract. The other terms of the deal are not known.
Fantasy Impact: This could surprisingly have fantasy implications, as Osgood has said previously that he wanted to go somewhere that would let him play more wide receiver and be a bigger part of an offense. The Jaguars have little talent beyond Mike Sims-Walker at WR and Osgood could have value this year.
Update
ESPN reports that the Arizona Cardinals have acquired S Kerry Rhodes from the Jets for a fourth round pick next year and a seventh round pick in 2011.
Fantasy Impact: This doesn't have many fantasy implications, but it does help fill one of the many holes the Cardinals have suddenly developed this off-season.
Update
Aaron Wilson, of The National Football Post, reports the Cleveland Browns have reached a three-year, $10.3 million deal with free-agent OL Tony Pashos (49ers).
Fantasy Impacted: It had been previously rumored that Pashos would resign with the 49ers, however negotiations didn't work out resulting in his eventual signing with the Browns.
Update
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports free-agent DT Tank Johnson (Bengals) said he hopes to remain with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he plans to visit with other teams in the next week.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson is a very talented DT whose struggles in the NFL have mostly stemmed from problems with the law.
Update
Adam Schefter, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent LB Joey Porter (Dolphins) will visit the Arizona Cardinals Thursday, March 11.
Fantasy Impact: The Cardinals will be looking to replace LB Karlos Dansby who was picked up by The Dolphins earlier this week and it looks like Porter may the man.
Update
Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports the Buffalo Bills have scheduled an individual workout with Florida QB Tim Tebow. The workout will be held after his school’s Pro Day March 17.
Fantasy Impact: Tebow didn't throw any balls during the NFL combine but will be throwing any pass asked of him during the Pro Day. The Bills are currently searching for a QB due to the struggles of both QB's Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Seahawks are committed to QB Matt Hasselbeck next season, but are still looking at long term goals.
Update
Adam Schefter, of ESPN.com, reports the Cleveland Browns have signed free-agent LB Scott Fujita (Saints). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: Fujita, now in his 8th season, helped the New Orleans Saints win a Superbowl this year. He is a large linebacker whose experience will defiantly help out a budding Browns team.
Update
Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer said he would not have a problem with the team adding free-agent WR Terrell Owens (Bills). "His past doesn't bother me at all. If any quarterback can deal with extravagant wide receivers, it's me," Palmer said.
Fantasy Impact: Palmer has now played multiple seasons with extravagant WR Chad Ochocinco, so dealing with Terrell Owens might not be much of a difference for the QB, but having the two egos of T.O. and Ochocinco on the same squad could be a different story.
Update
ESPN reports that free agent DE Aaron Kampman has agreed to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the terms of the contract are not known.
Fantasy Impact: Kampman, if fully healthy after tearing his ACL, should be a big boost to the Jaguars in his return to a 4-3 defense, where he has excelled. Expect the anemic Jacksonville pass rush to get better.
Update
ESPN reports that the Lions have traded a fifth round pick to the Browns for DT Corey Williams and a seventh round pick.
Fantasy Impact: Williams is another piece Lions coach Jim Schwartz is adding to defensive line along with DE Kyle Vanden Bosch and should help them be a better fantasy defense in 2010.
Update
ESPN reports that the Lions have signed free agent WR Nate Burleson to a 5 year, $25 million deal with $11 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Impact: Burleson had a solid year in Seattle despite the team continue to fall apart around him and the failure of WR T.J. Houshmandzedah to live up to his new free agency contract. Expect Burleson to immediately be the No. 2 receiver behind Calvin Johnson.
Update
ESPN reports that free agent DE Kyle Vanden Bosch has agreed to a 4 year, $26 million deal with the Lions.
Fantasy Impact: Vanden Bosch is part of Schwartz's continued overhaul of the terrible Detroit team he took over, and should help provide more sacks for the Lions defense is fantasy.
Update
ESPN reports that the Ravens have traded a third and fourth round pick for Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin. Additionally, Boldin agreed to a $25 million extension with $10 million guaranteed after this year, which would have been the last on his old contract.
Fantasy Impact: This seems to help Boldin's value a lot, as he is no longer playing second fiddle to WR Larry Fitzgerald (who's value should also get a boost) and he becomes far and away the best receiving option in Baltimore.
Update
ESPN reports that the Carolina Panthers have released QB Jake Delhomme, though still owing him about $12 million in guaranteed money from an extension given after last year's season.
Fantasy Impact: Delhomme's fantasy value was nil early last year, and he is likely to be no more than a backup somewhere else in the coming season. Matt Moore is the only QB contender on the roster right now.
Update
ESPN reports that Tully Banta-Cain has signed a 3 year, $13.5 million deal.
Fantasy Impact: Banta-Cain was the Pats' sack leader last year and is the main fantasy provider for the stat on the team right now.
